The Archives are broken up into three distinct categories; Rift, Tome, and Shrine. They each offer something unique to help players understand the survivors' backstories, perks, and even unlock some cosmetics. There's a branching algorithm of various challenges that players must complete in order to achieve higher status and unlock character origin-story elements. Some challenges can be rolled-over across different trails and give players multiple chances to complete. However, there are higher Tier challenges that only give players one chance to accomplish. To mitigate Legion's slow starts to matches using perks such as Barbeque and Chili can allow the Killer necessary recon to get things going in his favor as well. This allows Legion to see Survivor's in a nearby radius after he hooks a Survivor. A powerful ability that allows him to truly begin his pressure. The Rift

The Rift is basically the same concept as a 'Battle Pass', in which it comes with its own differing Tiers and its own challenges. The completion of nodes within 'The Auris Web' will grant XP which gradually builds up to create a 'Rift Fragment'. Rift Fragments are accumulated toward a leveling system (that has a max of 70) and each fragment will reward players with new; charms, outfits, and Auric Cells. Auric Cells is a special currency in Dead by Daylight Patch Notes by Daylight that can be used to unlock premium rewards that are available for a limited time.
